Hello everyone,
We have some big news to share — we’re expecting a baby!
We are thrilled to begin this new chapter and can’t wait to share more as things progress. I debated whether to post this on the blog, but many of you have followed along for years and I realized it’s been a long time since I shared a personal update.
I understand pregnancy announcements can prompt a range of reactions and plenty of unsolicited advice. Please know this site will remain focused on personal finance — Making Sense of Cents won’t change its mission — but I wanted to share this milestone with you all.
Our little one, Baby Gardner, is due in December 2021 — and we’re overjoyed to be starting our greatest adventure yet. We’re eager to introduce our new family member to the world.
So far, pregnancy has been an interesting ride: lots of nausea these past few months, though I haven’t actually thrown up. Eating has been challenging — which feels strange because I’m usually a big foodie — and I’ve developed many food aversions. Thankfully, I’m starting to feel better now.
With that improvement, my plan is to get ahead on work where I can, enjoy some special moments, and prepare as thoughtfully as possible for our growing family.
One question I’ve gotten the most: where will we live? Right now our plan is to live aboard our boat with the new baby. We’ll take things slowly at first, and eventually hope to travel with our child by boat, van, plane, and more.
