Today I’m excited to introduce Susie Moore.
I met Susie last summer and spent a fantastic weekend with her in New Hampshire hiking, rock climbing, practicing yoga, and more. She’s an incredibly upbeat and positive person—one of the most inspiring people I’ve ever met.
Susie’s work has been featured on The Today Show, Oprah, Business Insider, The Huffington Post, Forbes, Time Inc., Marie Claire, and many other respected outlets.
Her insights have been shared by influential figures and thought leaders, including Arianna Huffington, Paulo Coelho, Kris Jenner, and Sara Blakely.
Recently I mentioned in a blog post that I’m taking a course on earning more media mentions to increase page views. That’s a strategy I’ve long believed in.
I’ve personally been featured on Forbes, The Huffington Post, Yahoo Finance, CNBC, and more—and nearly every day people ask me how I manage to receive so many press features.

Tell me your story. Who are you and what do you do?
I’m a life coach who helps women become confidently more visible in their businesses and lives.
My background is in the corporate world — I was a Silicon Valley sales director working in ad tech. The job paid well, but I wanted to do work that felt more meaningful and to be independent.
I started a side hustle as a life coach in 2013 because I enjoy helping people solve problems with simple, repeatable strategies. As I gained more clients, I realized I’d made the right decision to pursue coaching full-time.
I was determined to grow quickly. One afternoon at my cubicle I read an article on MindBodyGreen and thought, “I could write something like this.” I submitted a 500-word piece and two weeks later it went live and was shared nearly 4,000 times. That moment proved how powerful media exposure could be for growing a business.
How did you grow your email list by 29,000 subscribers in just nine months? What did you do to really grow your business?
I used one straightforward strategy: guest posting.
By contributing my life-advice pieces to large outlets like MindBodyGreen, Marie Claire, Business Insider, and The Huffington Post, my audience expanded rapidly. Publishing on major platforms gives your message a much larger microphone—these publishers have invested decades and millions to build audiences, and being included exposes you to thousands of potential new readers.
Guest posting also lends immediate credibility and authority. Once you see how effective it is—and how many people aren’t yet taking advantage of it—it becomes an obvious growth strategy.

How can media help grow a business, such as a blog?
Guest posting is a perfect match for bloggers. Bloggers already create content, and guest posts let you reach audiences far beyond your own site. Editors and producers love working with bloggers because they bring ready-made expertise.
Think of your blog as a lemonade stand with great lemonade. Guest posting is like setting up at the city’s busy market—you reach more people, and your original stand benefits from the increased traffic.
Guest posts also help in other ways: they provide logos you can display as “Featured In,” which enhances credibility, and they build domain authority when reputable sites link back to your blog—improving SEO and search rankings.
Often you can repurpose existing blog posts into guest posts, so if you already have a blog, you’re halfway there.

Are we only talking about video? What kinds of media count?
Guest posting is primarily written content, but it underpins success across all media formats — articles, blogs, podcasts, television, and radio. Editors and producers often Google experts when seeking sources, so having strong written content makes you more discoverable and can lead to on-camera opportunities. Guest posting even helped me land a spot on The Today Show.
Can you outline the steps to get high-quality media mentions?
Yes—it’s simpler than many make it. Focus on three essentials:
- Know what you want to say.
- Know where your ideal audience is.
- Identify the decision maker who can give you access to that audience—usually an editor or producer.
Combine those three elements and you have a strong formula for successful, shareable guest posts. Research topics you want to write about and see where similar content already appears. Editors always need fresh content, so your perspective could be exactly what they’re searching for.
What does a sample pitch look like, and who do you send it to?
Most media outlets are divided into sections—health, career, relationships, fashion, etc.—so pitch the right editor for your topic. Spend five minutes researching to avoid wasting time pitching mismatched editors.
A good pitch should include who you are, why you’re qualified, why the idea is relevant to their readers, and a concise explanation of what you’ll share (for example, “7 interview tips that will get you hired”). You don’t need to have the full article written; editors often prefer to shape the piece to fit their audience. Their guidance can improve your piece and is effectively free writing coaching.
Do you need to live in a place like NYC or LA to get quality media mentions?
No. I live in Miami, Florida, and students from Denmark, Italy, Australia, China, and other countries have had success. Location doesn’t matter—just an internet connection and the willingness to reach out.
What else do you do to grow your reach? SEO, social media, guest posting?
Guest posting is my favorite growth strategy because it drives discovery, credibility, authority, influencer opportunities, book deals, and speaking engagements. I also use Facebook ads and create YouTube content—these channels work well together with guest posting to amplify reach.
What are your best tips for someone who wants similar success?
First, be an action taker. Overthinking kills momentum and perfectionism stalls progress. Second, find role models who’ve achieved what you want and emulate their approach.
