How I Made $3,287 in Extra Income — Recent Life Updates

That’s part of my sister’s lovely face on the left and me on the right…

Hi everyone — happy Monday! The weekend flew by again. I hope all the dads out there had a great Father’s Day.

We took our engagement photos on Thursday night and they went really well. I was nervous, but our photographer made everything easy. My sister helped by watching the dogs so we could take pictures both with and without them. We should receive the photos this week or next, so I’ll share them when they arrive.

Did anyone watch True Blood last night? I’m feeling pretty confused — this season seems especially strange so far.

Today I have my annual performance review at work, so wish me luck!

We’re still searching daily for our dream house. We haven’t found anything we absolutely love yet, which might be a good thing since our current home isn’t listed for sale. If the perfect property does appear, though, we’ll consider making an offer.

We’ve also decided we’ll most likely sell our current house. After thinking it over, we realized that if our goal were to buy a property purely as a rental investment, this house probably wouldn’t make sense. We could likely purchase something more basic and less expensive that would yield a higher return as a rental.

Reminder: Google Reader will shut down soon. If you still use it, make sure to move your subscriptions to another reader. I’ve come to like Bloglovin and recommend giving it a try. What are you planning to switch to?

Student Loan Update

My student loans will be fully paid off this month — woohoo! I’ll post a full update soon. It feels incredible to be this close to being debt-free.

Spending

We didn’t spend much last week. The biggest expense was our engagement photos, which cost about $400 — well worth it to me, even if W might disagree. Other than that, expenses were minimal.

Extra Income (does not include income from our main jobs)

Extra income was strong last week. I finally collected several overdue payments, which boosted my weekly earnings, though I’m still waiting on a few more. Quarterly estimated taxes are due, which is never fun — and I’d rather not think about the total tax bill for the year.

I launched a new blog last weekend called Diversified Finances. It focuses on how I’m diversifying my income streams with the goal of achieving financial independence. The latest post discusses passive income strategies.

Being Healthy

This past week I haven’t been as consistent with workouts — partly because I’ve been busy and partly due to laziness. On the bright side, our eating habits have been very healthy, which is a positive step. Both of us want to lose some weight and feel better overall, so we’re focusing on nutrition even if exercise has lagged.

How are your extra income efforts, spending, and health habits going?
