Hey everyone! Happy Monday. I managed to get a good amount of side-hustle work done over the weekend, though it flew by too quickly. I can’t believe July is almost over.
This will be a short week for me—I only work three days, WOOHOO!
We had free tickets to yesterday’s Cardinals game and went with W’s boss. It was fun, and hot, but not nearly as oppressive as a typical St. Louis summer day. It was both W’s and my first game of the year.
Is anyone else watching True Blood? This season has been wild so far. I can’t wait for next week’s episode, though I’ll be sad when the season ends.
And life without student loans is still A-MAZ-ING! I promise I won’t gush about it forever—maybe—but it’s been great.
Spending
We did a bit of spending this past week. We picked up new shirts for the Cardinals game and W bought athletic shoes; altogether we spent about $150. We don’t shop for clothes much these days, so I was fine with the purchase.
We’ll be returning a Cardinals tank top W bought for me because it turned out to be a maternity shirt and fits awkwardly—oops. Thanks, W.
I’m heading to Chicago this weekend for a good friend’s bachelorette party, so there will be more spending, but most major costs are already covered (transportation, male strip-show tickets, and hotel). What’s left is food, drinks, and maybe some shopping. I’m really excited.
If you have fun bachelorette party game ideas, please share. We’re putting together a bride-to-do dare list and want it to be memorable. We’ll be in Chicago, so any must-do suggestions for the city would be much appreciated.

Extra Income (does not include income from our main jobs)
Extra income was decent last week overall, though Monday through Wednesday were completely dead freelancing days. Slow stretches always make me nervous about transitioning to full-time self-employment.
I tend to worry that a slow day means things will stay slow forever, which is probably a common freelancing fear. Still, I expect freelance income to pick up this week—several large payments are due today or tomorrow, which should help once they clear.
I haven’t set a firm date for switching to 100% self-employment yet. I’m hesitant to give up the steady paycheck from my day job, and those slow early-week freelancing days were a reminder of the uncertainty.
I’d like to start a few new side hustles, such as writing for additional websites and offering more social media and blog management services. I hope to ramp these up; having more time should make that easier.
Being healthy
We’ve both been doing pretty well with healthier habits. I packed healthy lunches four days last week and we ate in at home most nights, focusing on cleaner meals. Everything tasted great, and I’ve been working out more than usual. There’s room for improvement, of course, but some progress is better than none.
