Warmer Days and an Extra $1,916 in Income

Nicer Weather and $1,916 in Extra IncomeHi everyone — I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Ours was peaceful and relaxing, and it went by far too fast. The past week was pretty quiet and uneventful, which can be a good thing. On Wednesday, May 1st, I’ll publish my April goals update and my extra income report, so be sure to stop by for that!

Spending

We didn’t do much shopping this week aside from food, so it was a relatively inexpensive week. We’re thinking about buying a kayak for spring and summer — we’ve wanted one for a while and we have a Cabela’s gift card that would cover it. A free kayak? Yes, please!

We also have more home projects coming up, which will mean considerable future spending. I’ll post more about all the updates our house needs soon. This week we finally finished our spring cleanup: we cleaned the gutters, raked leaves, and hauled away a lot of debris left after the tornado. The house looks much nicer now — I’m sure the neighbors appreciate it.

Extra Income (does not include income from our main jobs)

Extra income this week was similar to last week, which is fine by me. I’m waiting on payments from several people and hope to receive them soon. I’m also trying to grow passive income streams, but the main constraint is time.

I’ve been thinking a lot about peer-to-peer lending platforms like Lending Club. Before I started blogging I didn’t know much about P2P lending, but it’s a topic many bloggers discuss. Are you involved in peer-to-peer lending? What do you think of it? I’d love to hear your experiences. If you know of helpful posts about it, please share them in the comments.

I’m always curious about the side hustles others pursue. If you have ideas or stories about extra income, please share — I enjoy learning what readers and fellow bloggers do. If you’d like to guest post about paying off debt, side hustles, or related topics, email me. I regularly feature guest contributors so readers can discover new perspectives and blogs.

Food

I’m making progress on healthier eating. I’m trying to cut down on bread — I can polish off an entire container of croissants or a bag of Hawaiian rolls in one sitting, so avoiding bread and the snack aisles has helped. We spent about $100 on groceries last week, and our fridge was already pretty full before shopping, so that should stretch for a while. If you have healthy recipes to share, please post them in the comments.

Being healthy

I’ve been doing great with running and exercising more consistently. I try to run three to four miles most days and I’ve started running with my dog daily, which makes it more enjoyable.

Have you been making progress with extra income, managing spending, or improving your health?
